Criterion on Breathless
This Criterion Collection review of Breathless reveals some of the ways critics hailed the film despite the sexism we've been discussing. I'm not sure it absolves it, but it does frame it up and contextualize it helpfully. Enjoy!
And just for fun, here is a particularly feminist take on the film from a viewer who saw the film in a film class and just ... had ... many feels!
Here is Roger Ebert's historically dense review. Great read!
